Our cabin is 432 sq foot cabin across the road from the lake where you can water ski, jet ski, fish, look for bald eagles or osprey or just cruise. In the winter the cabin is only accessible via snowmobile or cross country skis. Its 4 miles from where the county stops plowing from the summit to the cabin and the road is closed to wheeled vehicles. The road is usually groomed along with many more miles of trails to ride or ski on. The bedroom has a full size bed, the loft has 2 twin beds and a twin size hide-a-bed downstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, oven and stove, and plenty of utensils. It has a propane fireplace and a propane BBQ. It has a large screen TV with DVR (there is no TV reception). There is no cell service, but it has a land line. There are two lodges with marinas where boats or kayaks can be rented. Each lodge has a restaurant, bar and general store. The area offers hiking (the pacific crest trail can be accessed in several spots), 4 wheeling, hunting in the fall and snowmobiling in the winter with many miles of groomed trails or boondocking, ice fishing, snowshoeing or cross country skiing. We built our retreat in 1996 and updated the home in 2014 with hickory hardwood flooring, tile floor baths and new plush carpets in the bedrooms. There are new granite counter tops and sinks in the kitchen and bathrooms. The home has three bedrooms, a sleeping loft and two baths. Upstairs, there is a large master suite with a king size bed, a private bath (with jetted tub), his and her closets, a television and Blue Ray/DVD player. The home is situated on two plus acres of forested private land in the Countryman Subdivision with paved roads and underground utilities. Positioned within viewing distance from our home is one of the seven wonders of the Western Pacific Railroad, the famous Wye bridge trestle. The “Wye” and town were named for Arthur Keddie. Keddie was an engineer who pioneered and surveyed the route for the railroad through the Feather River back in 1909. Fast forward to the 1960s when Keddie was being transformed into a resort by realtor Clarence Arthur English Jr. who had purchased the town in ’57 with the goal of making it into a first class resort destination. One of the features that Mr. English developed was the “Swimmin Hole’ which were a series of stone stairs leading down to patios and built in stone barbecue pits on the banks of Spanish Creek. More than 50 years later the beautiful rock work and patios still exist and in fact have been reborn for today’s generation of families. This wonderful setting with its modest home is available now to be enjoyed by young and old alike. The home is a fully equipped, modern, and cheerful. It boasts three private sleeping areas. Closest lake is Round Valley Reservoir (12 miles/25 min drive from house (or 4.5 mile on 4wd road)). Trail access to the Pacific Crest Trail the town of Belden 30 min away. The quaint town of Quincy is a short 15 min drive on a scenic section of route 70. Truckee is 80 miles south on 70/89. Lake Almanor is 10-30 miles north on 89 depending where you access the lake. For you outdoor/beer enthusiasts make sure to stop at The Brewing Lair, a unique outdoor brewery in the woods (located in Blairsden about 45 min drive from the house). For the whitewater enthusiast there are multiple class 4 and class 5 runs in the area. There s a class 4 run on Indian creek with the put-in at Indian Falls. On the Feather River just west of Belden 30 minutes from the house on hwy 70 you have the class 5 run on Tobin and the class 4 run on Lobin. Both of which are on dam released flows.Plumas county adds a 9% occupancy tax which is included in the nightly price. In the months of June and July, I will only be accepting reservations for a minimum of 2 nights and a maximum of 2 guests. The reason: I plan on leaving the home empty for 4 days between all guests because I believe that this will go far to ensure no potential virus can be alive. I will even be staying out of the home until 3 days have passed, then I'll go in & open all the windows and clean the place LIKE CRAZY. Yes, I will make less money but my health and your health is more important than money :) Creekside is located in the Sierra Nevadas, along Highway 70. It's 2.5 miles from East Quincy and 6 miles from downtown Quincy. Stay here and relax to the sound & sparkle of the creek. The home is surrounded by the Plumas National Forest. It is also one of the most economical places to stay in town, for this is a town where a spartan motel room costs about $90. For those coming to Quincy to visit friends/family: Please note that the home is not available as a gathering spot, there is a 4 person limit and please remember no children under 12 should be invited onto the property due to the creek. WHAT CREEKSIDE HAS: A friendly creek that runs year-round and also runs right past your back deck. It has deer and foxes and turkeys and squirrels and wonderful songbirds and, yes, there’s even a chance you’ll see a California black bear but, in fact, it isn’t likely. In the 6 years I’ve been hosting, only 1 guest has seen a bear. I want you to know it’s possible but unlikely, in case you’re fearful. FYI: A California black bear’s behavioral traits are NOTHING like a grizzly bears. WHAT CREEKSIDE DOES NOT HAVE: These are stumbling blocks for some guests, so I want to be clear: 1) It doesn’t have television reception. 2) The internet is not unlimited. By this I mean, there is a data cap. If this worries you, we can discuss how the cap works and what it means as far as being online. Basically it means that video streaming is unavailable. I very much enjoy hosting and would enjoy hosting you! I just want all potential guests to be aware of the two technological disadvantages of my little spot of heaven. I hope to have the internet cap lifted but the electric company has been promising that it would happen for 4 years now. Every time I call they say, “We hope it will happen in the next 5 or 6 months.” So, for your entertainment there are games to play and there are movies to watch on the dvd player and there is a creek to sooth you and animals to look for. The internet is 75mb and cell phones work. Kids love it, we have trains and toys and tonkas and a sand pit to play.

Built In 1926, the Huff House used to be the warehouse for the village store until we renovated it in 2019. I love the high timber ceilings and great views of Mount Hough, especially when it has snow. The house is in the village of Crescent Mills (200 people) at an elevation of 3500' and looks to the mountains at around 7,200'. The house has a large main room with 13' timber ceilings with two bedrooms, each with their own new bathroom. The kitchen is huge and the breakfast bar and bar stools came from the old hotel next door. I like how it combines the rustic feeling of old timber with the convenience of modernity. The living room has a massive 8' x 8' window looking out on Indian Valley and Mt Huff. It is perfect for a weekend getaway to the mountains. The apartment is behind Gigi’s Market which is a popular cafe and coffee shop and across the road from Crescent antiques. Hiking and biking are great. From the house you can walk up the hill and find old gold mines, or drive up Mt Huff and go mountain biking or visit Crystal Lake (the most beautiful place I have ever visited). The house is close to the railroad which has about 6 freight trains pass through per day, they blow their horns as they pass and its kind of fun. Crescent Mills has a golf course. Taylorsville (10 mins) has a rodeo and museum and swimming pool. You can go shopping in Greenville (6 min) or Quincy (17 mins). Lake Almanor (20 mins) is fun for water sports and Mount Lassen Park (45 mins) has geysers and volcanoes.

FAQ's: Are extra people ok, and is there a charge? Yes that's fine. For pricing, please substitute 'tents' for 'people' in the additions as HipCamp does not have the option to add extra tents at this time. The cost is $10 per tent. Any questions, just message me, we can work it out when you get here. Is there an extra cost for animals or vehicles? Nope, only $10 per extra tent How far is the campsite from parking? About 1,000 feet. How many people can the tent sleep? Two in each bed and comfortably two more on the floor. Are large school groups permitted? For sure! We have hosted up to 50! Just message us for group ideas. We can even offer guided tours of the property and use of the climbing wall. How do I store food? Storing food in ice chests is fine, although preferred would be in your car. We do not offer bear boxes, but also have not had any reports of critters or bears getting into food (yet). Bears here do not try and get into cars. Do I need to worry about bears in the tent? Nope :) If you have any fears, simply place the solar lamp in the doorway, it will scare them. Our spacious cabin is located in a small, quaint area of Prattville directly across from Lake. It's a perfect single or multi-family cabin that can sleep up 11 guests comfortably. The cabin is walking distance to the lake, the marina, Carols Café, Camp Prattville, and a shared beach for an afternoon fun in the sun with the kids. The main floor has a fully stocked and operational kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 bathroom, master bedroom and laundry room. Upstairs there is 1 bedroom with a king bed, a dorm room with a king bed and two twin beds, and a bonus room with an over-sized couch, flat screen tv and two futons that turn into double beds. There is also a bathroom upstairs. The best part is the huge deck off the kitchen equipped with outdoor furniture and a BBQ. Bring a blow-up bed and sleep on the deck under the stars! This cabin is constructed of authentic logs and is nestled in the trees right on the west shore of Lake Almanor. It has one room with a queen bed and a second room with two twins. It also has a full sleeper sofa in the living room. The kitchen is fully stocked, including refrigerator, oven/stove, micro, toaster, coffee maker, pots/pans, plates, cups, cooking/eating utensils. The bathroom has a sink, toilet, and shower/tub combo. The cabin also comes with satellite television, internet, propane fireplace, and charcoal bbq. There is a large, comfortable, covered deck out front with outside seating/table. This cabin looks directly over Lake Almanor and has amazing views of Mount Lassen.

The Wild Rose Tipi is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, just an hour from Lassen National Park, Lakes Basin, and over a million acres of National Forest (the tipi borders 500 acres+). The tipi is a short walk from several spring-fed swimming holes, and it overlooks the meadows and creeks of the owner's 50-acre property. Simple but comfortable, the tipi is 20' in diameter and offers one full size bed (with bedding) with plenty of room for sleeping bags on the gravel floor. Outside the tipi is a picnic table and BBQ, porta-potty, and several additional shaded tent sites. Nearby (and out of view) is the host family's small cabin (the tipi is their guest house), and an on-demand hot water outdoor shower. If you need extra camp chairs or lanterns, just ask. Wood fires are permitted in the fire pit until mid-summer, and then we request you use briquettes only. The Wild Rose tipi is secluded, but not 'middle-of-nowhere' secluded. Usually, the loudest sounds are the geese, but campers may also hear the train, or sounds from the nearby town of Greenville. There is also a shooting range about five miles away and some days you may hear noises from that. Otherwise, there are quite a few hike-in meditation and yoga buffs, and some fantastic swimming holes, where you will feel like a world away! Your host family has enjoyed building a lot of activities for their own children, which campers may use at their own risk- including a 160' zip line, a 50' zip line from a tree house, and a rock climbing wall (currently under construction). Please note, there are many animals on the land (deer, bunnies, etc.) so please keep your pups on a leash. If you have any questions about nearby activities, feel free to reach out to us!
